Seeking a live-in care assistant to provide support for the 92-year-old co-founder and director of the former Wellspring House writers retreat in Ashfield, MA, Preston Browning, Jr. The position also requires some care of the house and grounds. Housing (including utilities and wifi) is provided, as well as a monthly stipend of $2,000. The assistant will have their own bedroom, living area, and workspace at Wellspring House. The time commitment for this contracted (1099) position is around 20 hours per week, with a possibility of expanded duties as Preston’s needs increase. A home health aide visits weekly and additional support staff visit each morning to prepare breakfast and do light housework.
Experience working in personal care is essential; interest in and/or background in the literary arts is a big plus. Must be vaccinated against Covid 19. A working vehicle is required, along with a valid driver’s license. The assistant will be reimbursed for gas. Note that there may be other guests in the house from time to time.
