Ann’s Studio

In recognition of: Ann Hutt Browning

Ann_Hutt_BrowningThe Visionary: Ann decided to become an architect in the 1980s. She drove into Washington from Loudoun County, Virginia, several times a week in order to study at Catholic University. When she and her husband, Preston Browning, moved to Massachusetts in 1999, Ann used her experience and practice in architecture to design all the renovations for Wellspring. The studio became her favorite place to draft designs, and to write her poetry. Much of the poetry she wrote became her collection, Deep Landscape Turning. After Ann’s passing in 2011, the Studio became Wellspring’s largest resident room, airy and light, and full of Ann’s visionary spirit.

Ann’s Studio is available to single residents and couples. It features a double bed, three windows and a skylight, an armchair with a foot stool, a closet, dresser, book case, and bedside table, as well as three desks, desk lamps, and chairs.

Please note that as of April 9, 2021, Wellspring House Retreat is no longer operational as a Writer’s Retreat.
